Returning SA Residence

You can get DUTY FREE clearance on your used household and personal items if you are a SA resident returning after at least 6 months without any interruptions. To be eligible for duty free clearance, you will need to fill out a DA304 form and have it attested by customs.

Returning SA residents are allowed to import one vehicle duty-free; a second vehicle will be subject to duty.

Please note:

In order to qualify for duty free status, a vehicle must have been leased in a foreign country for at least 12 months. If a vehicle is leased for less than 12 months, a pro-rata duty will apply.
